CATTLE PRICES FALL AT GRAFTON SALEYARDS

Prices for beef cattle have fallen at the Grafton Saleyards, but are still much better than they were 12 months ago.

All categories sold for 10 to 30 cents less yesterday than they did a week ago, but the best bullocks still fetched $2.60 a kilogram, while quality cows attracted $2.30.

According to Stock and Station Agent Ray Donovan, the record prices over the past three months couldn’t be sustained indefinitely.

He says overseas demand has dropped a little and drought conditions have worsened in the west.
