  1. This rate rise is … 49.993% compounded over over 5 years .. this means that … if your rates are $100 .. in first year it will be $149.99, the second year it will be $156.24, the third year $158.78, the fourth year $160.17 and the fifth year $161.04. So in 5 years your rates will have risen $61.04.

All very good if your original rates were $100 but if it your base rate is $1000 we are looking at $600 in five years and if your rates are $2000 you can double that, comes to $1,200 !

On top of that they are going to increase all the other rates on your bill by the normal yearly rate increase

On top of that everything the council charges for are going to be increased by 56% this includes dog registrations, library fees, camping grounds, construction fees and burial fees to name just a very few.

Go figure … bad administration got us into this mess and now we are going to pay very heavily for council’s decisions and administration mistakes. (Like … 250 million in the red and STILL council is borrowing money !)

  2. Considering the low property values in some areas affected by the proposed rate increase it seems very disproportionate! This will affect many who should not be expected to pay for a lack of foresight, mismanagement and bad decisions!
