NATIVE TREES PLANTED AT TOWN BEACH

A green army descended on Port Macquarie’s Town Beach today, for a tree planting event.

Around 500 native saplings were planted, with the aim of restoring the area to its natural state.

The work was carried out by staff from The Observatory Hotel and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.

Observatory Hotel’s Chris Denny says the area was initially rainforest.

“And over time, man’s had that influence and that’s what we’ve got now.”

The project is part of the hotel’s Green Future carbon reduction program.
