BANTING TO MISS TAHITI EVENT

Port Macquarie surfer Matt Banting has had to withdraw from another World Surf League event care of an ongoing knee injury.

Banting will miss the Tahiti leg of the competition, after having to pull out of last month’s event at Jeffreys Bay. He injured his knee while free surfing prior to the J-Bay event.

“Because it’s bruised bone you never know how bad it is … it was hurting pretty bad and once it got cold it swelled up and we
knew something happened for sure,” Banting said in a WSL statement.

Byron Bay’s Garrett Parkes will replace him in the event.
