APRIL STORM DAMAGE BILL TOPS $39 MILLION IN CESSNOCK

Cessnock Council estimates the damage bill to local business from the April storm to be $39-million.

Council surveyed more than a thousand business owners, with around three quarters claiming to have been impacted in some way.

More than 250 lost power, while in excess of 600 were forced to close temporarily.

The findings will be used to help businesses plan for future natural disasters.
