There were lengthy delays and traffic diversions around the approaches to Newcastle Airport this afternoon, after a fatal collision involving a motorbike and a table top truck.
The crash happened on Nelson Bay road near the entrance to the airport just after three o’clock.
The motorcyclist died at the scene.
The driver of the truck was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

I feel so sorry for the young guy on the bike who died on the road
