A two-day-hearing in the New South Wales Court of Appeal over the future of the Newcastle rail line has wrapped up.
The Save Our Rail group believes its legal team’s final submissions that the state government had acted beyond its authority in closing the line, were well received.
Lawyers for the government continued to argue that handing control of the line to the Hunter Development Corportation, shutting three stations and removing infrastructure, doesn’t constitute a closure.
A determination is expected within weeks.
