TOUKLEY LOCALS CALL FOR SPEED BUMP REMOVAL

Wyong Councillor Greg Best will make an urgent motion to council tomorrow night to remove newly-installed speed bumps on Toukley’s Main Road.

It comes as local business owners say it’s an inadequate solution to the area’s traffic problems.

  1. This is great news. They have made the drive through Toukley an absolute nightmare.
Also the one in the picture is already falling apart.

  2. When I saw that they were about to construct these speed bumps I said to my wife we should move out of the area, and she agreed.
Since they were installed I have seen more near misses of head on with people swerving around, people breaking the law by swerving inside and crossing the line as well as people having lock ups for almost rear ending each other than ever before.
At some point someone will get killed by the inadequate reaction of a driver, same as we saw at Gorokan shops with the ridiculous lane markings at lights that we see people undertaking through the lights from 2 lanes into 1 ( Kramer style).
While it is annoying, absurd and bureaucratic to the Nth degree I think at least we could organised a class action against the designer and committee that agreed to this, for the cost of increased fuel due to accelerating an braking, the increased wear on the roads due to resonance suspension bouncing from the bumps and the increased wear and tear on suspension and tires. Not exactly environmentally friendly I am sure!

  3. It’s a wonder they (the RMS) haven’t installed speed cameras, instead of speed bumps
