Police are hunting six teenagers over the assault and robbery of a medical student at the University of Newcastle.
The 21-year-old was walking along a bike track at the Callaghan campus last night when he was set upon by two youths, and clubbed with a tree branch.
The boys then stole the man’s backpack, which contained a laptop, before fleeing with four other teens.
The victim was treated at John Hunter Hospital for swelling and bruising.
His attackers are only described as being aged around 17, and wearing hooded jumpers.
