After months of negotiations, a contractor has been employed to dispose of toxic flowback water from Coal Seam Gas mining operations at the Waukivory site near Gloucester.
About 2.7 megalitres of flowback water will be transported to a plant in Brisbane for treatment and disposal.
The new agreement means the nearby Tiedman’s East Dam, which had been earmarked as a storage facility for the water, will no-longer be required.
