NIGEL BOOGAARD FINALLY PLAYING FOR NEWCASTLE IN THE A-LEAGUE

Newcastle Jets recruit Nigel Boogaard isn’t concerned about the A-League club’s issues in the previous months.

“I could have easily stayed in Adelaide and been part of a semi-successful team and a team that’s quite balanced and has been established for a few years,” said Boogaard, after his first training session as a Jets player on Monday.

Boogaard said he had always hoped to play for his hometown club, but was unsure if he’d ever get the chance.

The chance came for the 28-year-old in February, when he signed a three-year deal with the Jets.

The footballer said he is yet to meet new coach Scott Miller, but he met deputy Jean Paul de Marigny who took Monday’s session.
