COFFS BEACH REOPENED AFTER SHARK SIGHTINGS

Jetty Beach in Coffs Harbour has been re-opened after sharks were seen feeding on fish scraps earlier this week.

The decision was based on advice from Department of Primary Industries officers and water police monitoring the harbour.

“There’s been no further sightings for two or three days so from that we decided that it was relatively safe,” said Senior Council Lifeguard Sonny Tisdell.

Signs have been erected asking anglers to use bins instead of discarding fish frames into the water.

Swimmers with any concerns are advised to use Park Beach which is patrolled by lifeguards.
