MAN RESCUED AFTER SPENDING FOUR NIGHTS IN THE WATAGANS

A Central Coast man, believed to have endured freezing temperatures in the Watagan Mountains, west of Lake Macquarie, was winched to safety by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter this afternoon.

Another man saw the 39-year-old from Kanwal entering the bush last Friday… and raised the alarm after noticing his car was still parked in the same position on Sunday.

A family member also reported him missing.

The 39-year-old was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition, and is being treated for hypothermia and minor cuts.
