WOMAN SURVIVES AFTER CAR ACCIDENT LEAVES HER DANGLING OFF THE EDGE OF AN EMBANKMENT

A 54-year-old woman has had a narrow escape after her car rolled down an embankment near Clunes this morning.

Emergency crews were called to James Gibson Road, where the woman was trapped in her car, dangerously close to a seven metre drop.

She was taken to hospital and treated for shock.

One resident says incidents like this are a common occurrence on the dangerous bend.

“17 years we’ve been here now and this is probably half a dozen accidents we’ve had on this corner you know they come in and it’s a bit deceiving and they come through and going too quick and lose control and over the embankment they go.”

He’s calling for more to be done to improve road safety in the area.
