SANTOS ISSUED PRP’S FOR NARRABRI GASFIELD
The Environmental Protection Agency has cleared Santos of any wrongdoing following two alleged breaches in the past three years at its Narrabri operation.
In 2013, the mining giant notified authorities of elevated salinity and metal levels in a nearby holding pond, but investigations proved inconclusive as to whether it was the result of leaks or natural causes.
While in January this year, water produced as a by-product was emitted from a gas vent.
Despite the findings, the EPA has put in place Pollution Reduction Programs for Santos to improve its groundwater monitoring.
