The teenager who died in yesterday’s collision between a car and garbage truck at Port Macquarie has been named as Hazel Kirkbride.
The 17-year-old was a Year 12 student at Westport High.
The school announced her tragic passing on its Facebook page.
“It is with deepest regret that we must announce the tragic death of Hazel Kirkbride, one of our Year 12 students. Hazel passed away today following a car accident on Hastings River Drive. Our condolences and warmest thoughts go to Hazel’s family and friends.”
Hazel was driving a car which veered into the path of a garbage truck on Hastings River Drive yesterday morning.
A toddler who was also in the car was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital in a stable condition.
