Heroic neighbours have saved an elderly woman, trapped by thick smoke inside her Arundel family home.
Grandma Bev Stout says she dropped her grandchildren at school this morning, when the car started smoking and then exploded into flames.
Her husband Maurie tried to put the fire out but quickly gave up and escaped to the street.
His wife had been trying to call firefighters… and became stuck in their house.
Neighbours didn’t hesitate. They raced down the side of the property and helped the elderly woman to safety.
“I popped the boot cause I said to my husband the car’s running rough and I went inside then it just went woosh and burst into flames 59 He came out to try and get the hose on it but it was too late”
