GREAT LAKES COUNCIL VOTES DOWN CSG MOTION

A motion opposing coal seam gas in the Great Lakes has been defeated at a council meeting.

Councillor Linda Gill put forward the motion, which was voted down six-to-two.

She says she’s disappointed with the outcome, because AGL has plans to explore for CSG in the region.

“I’m distressed that it was given so little regard,” she said.

Council has instead resolved to look at Midcoast Water’s policy on coal seam gas.
