Tensions ran high at Newcastle Jets training this morning after an altercation between coach Phil Stubbins and sacked player Joel Griffiths.
The pair exchanged words after the coach ordered Griffiths and his fellow teammate in exile, David Carney, away from the rest of the playing group.
This is despite both players being allowed to participate in training drills after the squad’s warm up earlier in the session.
Griffiths is one of senior five players and three coaching staff sacked by the club a fortnight ago.
Some of the sacked players are still training with the Jets, while they wait for outstanding payments to be made by club boss Nathan Tinkler.
