WOMAN SUFFERS SEVERE BURNS IN CARAVAN FIRE

A 45-year-old woman has sustained burns to 20 per cent of her body after her caravan burst into flames at Glenugie, near Coffs Harbour.

Emergency services responded to the fire at the Dinjerra Road rest area on the Pacific Highway at Glenugie just after midday.

“The caravan has exploded, caught fire and she suffered serious burns to her body,” Sergent Jarrod French.

The woman was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for treatment.

It’s not yet known how the fire started.
