MORE DETAILS REVEALED ABOUT HIGHWAY FATAL

Police have revealed the two people who were killed while driving along the Pacific Highway at Moorland, north of Taree yesterday, were a Queensland couple who were on their way home to Clontarf, near Brisbane.

54-year-old Sharon Thorogood and 59-year-old Vincent Thorogood died when their car ran off the highway, crashing into the barrier on the side of the road, before flipping and landing on its roof.

“We understand they were travelling from Sydney back to Queensland and obviously this area is about four hours into that trip, which is that fatigue zone.”

Police say the incident is a tragic reminder to take regular breaks while travelling these holidays.
