CRIME STATISTICS DOWN ACROSS NSW

There’s been no significant upward trend in major crime categories across New South Wales, according to the latest statistics released by the state government.

In the past two years to September, the Hunter has seen a 50 per cent reduction in robbery without a weapon and a drop of 20.7 per cent in motor vehicle theft.

The same categories were also down for Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Malicious damage to property was almost 12 per cent lower on the Mid North Coast and Coffs Harbour recorded a 16 per cent drop in break and enters.

While in the New England and North West, stealing from a person was down more than 43 per cent.

The Central Coast recorded a significant reduction in 7 of the 17 major offences.
