PHILLIP HUGHES PASSES AWAY IN HOSPITAL

Top batsman Phillip Hughes has passed away in hospital.

The 25-year-old Macksville local was in an induced coma at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital since Tuesday, after being struck in the head by a cricket ball at the SCG.

Hughes was playing for South Australia in a Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales.

In a statement, Cricket Australia says “He was not in pain before he passed and was surrounded by his family and close friends.

“As a cricket community we mourn his loss and extend our deepest sympathies to Phillip’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.”
