Newcastle has cruised to victory in the northern pool of the Country Cricket Championships, easily chasing down Northern Rivers in Ballina.
The defending champions wasted no time at the crease, with Stockton’s Jeff Goninan scoring an unbeaten 105.
Newcastle reached the target with more than 15 overs to spare.
It will meet the winner of the Illawarra region in a fortnight.
