Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist has arrived at his new home in Newcastle.
The 5-year-old stallion was welcomed in Broadmeadow early this morning, where he’ll now be under the eye of local trainer Kris Lees.
Lees says Protectionist will be spelled for the time being, before he begins preparation for the Autumn Racing Carnival in Sydney.
The long term goal will be to achieve back-to-back wins in the race that stops the nation.
