LISMORE TOO GOOD FOR COFFS IN COUNTRY SHIELD CRICKET
Lismore defeated the Coffs Harbour Colts yesterday in the second round of the state Country Shield cricket competition.
The visitors’ opening batsman Brad Cleaver played well to quickly score 45 runs, teaming up with top scorer Josh Seifert who made 69 runs.
Lismore finished 9 for 224 after the 50 overs but despite a valiant effort in reply, Coffs Harbour was dismissed 22 runs short.
“Most of them are under the age of 21 so it’s a matter of trying to give these guys an opportunity to play representative cricket,” said North Coast Cricket spokesman Ken Robinson.
While Lismore’s hopes are still alive in the Shield competition, Coffs Harbour will not play again.
