CHEMICAL SPILL ON HIGHWAY NEAR COFFS HARBOUR
The driver of a b-double truck was hospitalised this morning after inhaling fumes from a dangerous chemical spill on the Pacific Highway near Coffs Harbour.
Police say the truck side-swiped a guard rail at Moonee just before 4am, causing drums of hydrochloric acid to fall from the truck, onto the road.
The spill was cleaned up by emergency crews, with the remaining contents of the drums transferred into hazmat bins.
The driver is in a satisfactory condition.
