NEWCASTLE LORD MAYOR JEFF McCLOY EXPECTED TO RESIGN MONDAY

Newcastle’s Lord Mayor Jeff McCloy is tipped to resign from his council post Monday morning.

It is understood Mr McCloy has already prepared a written statement, announcing the move.

It follows his admissions to the Independent Commission Against Corruption that he made illegal donations to the 2011 state election campaigns of Tim Owen, Andrew Cornwell and Garry Edwards.

The Newcastle and Charlestown MPs resigned last week, while the Swansea MP stepped aside on Thursday.

The ICAC hearing resumes 10am Monday.

  1. It will give me great pleasure if jeff mccloy resigns, he has caused nothing but upsets and job losses in newcastle. I could only hope that all the bad decisions he made could be undone and reinstated back to their previous status re: privitisation of the pools.

  2. Dont resign you are the best thing that has happened to Newcastle. Newcastle will fall back in to a slump without you. 🙁
