JEFFRESS HOLDS OFF HIGGINBOTTOM TO WIN FIJI INTERNATIONAL

Port Macquarie-bred golfer Steven Jeffress has taken out the $1-million Fiji International, holding off the Hunter’s Jake Higginbottom in the final round.
Former world number one Vijay Singh finished in a tie for 10th.
Jeffress and Higginbottom started the fourth round tied at eight under, but at the turn it was Higginbottom who held a two shot advantage.
The par-3 15th proved crucial, as Higginbottom produced a bogey, despite this impressive recovery chip shot.
Now based on the Gold Coast, Jeffress held his nerve on the final few holes to claim the most significant win of his career, earning $180,000 in the process.
