Port Macquarie’s Matt Banting has won the Los Cabos Open of Surf in Mexico ahead of fellow Aussie Dion Atkinson.
Banting wasted no time attacking the four-to-six-foot surf, opening his victory with a 7 point ride.
He posted a 15.30 to take out the final.
“If you told me that I was going to get the win hopping on that plane coming over here I wouldn’t have expected it but just to take it away and get the $25-grand and be here in Cabos one last night is amazing”
It’s Banting’s second ASP 6-star win this season, putting him in a good position to qualify for the world championship tour in 2015.
