Surfest has become the latest Hunter sporting event to lose financial support from Nathan Tinkler.
It’s been announced that Hunter Ports will no longer sponsor the women’s event.
“They saved us when we didn’t have anything at all and took us up to a six star level, the highest level we’ve had for many many years and that gave it the credibility it needed and we’ve enjoyed a great relationship over the last four years.”
Meanwhile, Knights Members Club Chairman Nick Dan has welcomed a proposed $5-million farewell gift from Tinkler’s Hunter Sports Group.
The deal, which is yet to be finalised, would see the club receive a million dollar sponsorship each year for five years.
