FRIDGES WASH UP ON BEACH

Customs is investigating after a shipping container full of fridges washed ashore at Shelly Beach on the Central Coast overnight.

Huge swell and waves from a low pressure system managed to break open the container, allowing the new Fisher & Paykel fridges to float to shore.

Beachgoers made the discovery this morning.

Initial investigations suggest the container was one of five lost from a ship near Sydney.

The fridges were taken away shortly after lunch.
