A 40-year-old mid north coast surf-shop owner has been bitten on the foot by a shark while taking photos of friends in the surf yesterday afternoon.

Doctors believe a bull shark was responsible for attacking Mike Porter in chest deep water off Lighthouse Beach at Port Macquarie.

Mr Porter yelled to a nearby surfer who helped him get to shore, where off-duty surf club members bandaged the bloody bite wounds on his foot.

We’ll have more details tonight at 6.
