A 37-year-old woman remains in John Hunter Hospital with severe head injuries, after allegedly being assaulted by a man at East Maitland overnight.
Police say she was knocked to the ground during an argument in the carpark of a shopping centre.
A 30-year-old man has been refused bail, and is due to face court tomorrow.
