MINISTER AVERTS POLICE ACTION

The state government has averted a potential crisis, with police threatening to take industrial action over an officer shortage.

Minister Mike Gallacher left parliament and headed to the Hunter to announce an extra 90 officers will be deployed between Port Stephens and Tweed Heads.
