SES crews have responded to more than 85 calls for assistance after strong winds and driving rain hit the Lower Hunter overnight.
Most of the calls have been for trees down and leaking roofs.
Industrial Drive at the Elizabeth Street roundabout is blocked to all but heavy vehicles.
Rail services have been disrupted with coaches replacing trains from Sandgate.
The SES has listed a minor to moderate flood warning for the Paterson and Williams Rivers.
