Three people were lucky to escape a house fire in East Maitland this morning – after a neighbour raised the alarm.
The neighbour noticed the rear garage was on fire and woke up the occupants… who fled the house.
The blaze closed the east-bound lanes of the New England Highway for around two hours.
Police are still investigating what sparked the blaze.
