POLICE INVESTIGATE LINKS IN ARMED ROBBERIES

Police are investigating if two armed robberies on takeaway shops in the Hunter overnight are linked.

Just after 7:30pm police were called to a takeaway on Louth Park Road in South Maitland where a masked offender threatened an employee with a firearm.

He left with some cash.

Two hours later two offenders, one wearing a scream style mask threatened an employee with a firearm at a shop in Branxton, demanding money.

The employee challenged the offenders and both men ran from the store empty-handed.

No one was injured in either incident.

Police are searching for two men who they believe can assist them. The first person is described as wearing a white and grey hooded jumper, long black pants and white shoes. The second is also described as wearing a hooded jumper.

Both had their faces covered and may have been travelling in a dark blue coloured 4WD.
