INVERELL ATHLETE TAKES OUT FERNLEIGH 15

Former Inverell athlete Hugh Williams has taken out this year’s Fernleigh 15 endurance run in Newcastle, in just under 47 minutes.

Williams made a strong early start, as part of a breakaway pack of four.

A surge at the end of the 15-kay event then took him clear of rival Matthew Cox.

The win was Williams’ first at a state open-age event, and ensured he finishes the season on a high.
