MIDCOAST WATER ISSUES PLEA TO CURB CONSUMPTION
MidCoast Water says it may be forced to introduce water restrictions, if residents don’t curb their consumption.
The utility has issued a plea to people in the Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester areas, with water use slowly increasing since the start of spring.
It says usage is up 15 per cent, compared to the average amount used over the past seven years.
The warm, dry weather has also taken a toll on the Manning River, which could be at critical levels by early to mid November.
MidCoast Water is encouraging all residents to participate in its water saving program, by not using hoses and sprinklers in the middle of the day.
