Port Macquarie residents are being encouraged to roll up their sleeves and donate platelets, a crucial blood cell for chemotherapy patients.
Platelets help with clotting, and without a transfusion, cancer sufferers who have lost the ability to produce their own platelets are at risk of internal bleeding.
The Australian Red Cross is appealing for 50 extra donors for tomorrow and Tuesday to boost its supplies.
It says each donation has the potential to save three lives.
