A man is facing court on Friday morning charged with the murder of a woman in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton South.
Newcastle detectives went to the unit block on Fowler Street late on Thursday afternoon after receiving information from the public.
There they found the body of a woman believed to be aged in her 50s.
Police arrested a 43-year-old man at the scene. He was questioned then later charged with her murder.
Neighbours are being questioned as part of the investigation.
