The Newcastle Cycleways Movement remains hopeful the state and federal governments will continue to fund the Fernleigh Track to ensure there’s a link from Newcastle right through to Swansea.
The track had one of its most popular days over the weekend, with Newcastle Council putting on breakfast as part of Bike Week celebrations.
Meanwhile, planning continues for another Fernleigh-sized track from Maitland to Cessnock, known as the Richmondvale Rail Trail.
