Promising stayer Hathras won’t contest the Spring riches with Newcastle trainer Kris Lees deciding to geld him after a lacklustre return to racing.
Hathras, one of the early favourites for the Group One Metropolitan Handicap, has finished towards the tail of the field in two runs this prparation.
Lees today told Racing NSW stewards the horse will be gelded.
Hathras is owned by Newcastle-based Australia Bloodstock.
