Students from 26 schools across the North West had the chance to brush up on their rugby union skills at a development day in Tamworth.
The one-day event is aimed at encouraging more children to take up the sport.
“It’s about developing the game, and getting as many kids as we possibly can to get a football in their hand and enjoy the game and the spirit of rugby, it’s all about participation and they’re all here doing that today.”
For the second year in a row, girls were also encouraged to attend.
“EspeciallY the girls that we’ve got here today, having just refereed the girls game just there, it’s a great opportunity for them to get out on the field and experience rugby for a lot of them, for the first time.”
