WEATHER UPDATE: AUSTRALIA’S WEATHER ROLLER COASTER

Ending the Millennium drought 2009 was Australia’s 3rd hottest year on record. The La Nina then set in causing 2010 to become Australia’s third wettest only to be out done in 2011 which became Australia’s 2nd wettest year on record.

2012 was a transition year from La Nina into an abnormally hot period beginning in September last year. Since then we have experienced, Australia’s hottest day, the hottest week, the hottest month, the hottest Summer and now the hottest 12 month period with the Winter likely to become also the hottest in 112 years of records. But what’s to come?

Spring is forecast to be slightly wetter than the average and that should help bring temperatures back closer to normal but still slightly above average.

Until then the hot end to Winter will roll on.
