BIGGER CHALLENGES AHEAD FOR MEG BAILEY

She won five gold medals at the state-age shortcourse championships last weekend, now Merewether’s Meg Bailey is preparing for her next big challenge.
The Japanese Junior Olympic Cup will feature the best under-18 swimmers from around the globe.
It’s part of her build-up to the Commonwealth Games trials in Brisbane in March.
“I tried out for the last olympic games and came out 12th, so hopefully I could make a final at the Commonwealth Games trials and keep improving from there.”
Her coach believes the 16-year-old is right on track.
“Always was a good racer, now she’s like Phar Lap, she gets on the block and wants to win. Best friend out of the water, hates you on the block though.”
