There’s been an incredible rescue of a horse stuck in mud at Ashmore.
The 24-year-old former racehorse named ‘Charm’ was wedged in a ditch between two large pipes.
Fire crews, a vet, the horse’s owner and neighbours all joined in the mission to free the animal, which may have been stuck there overnight.
They invented a winch system to hoist the animal over one of the drains, and after a number of attempts – it finally worked.
“She was worried and too cold in that dirty water, so she’s still a little sick but we’re going to get some treatment into her and do the very best we can.”
The horse only suffered a few scratches.
