TAMWORTH TO BOAST 24/7 RESCUE HELICOPTER BASE BY 2015

A boost to the region’s medical services has been welcomed by Tamworth’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Reforms by the State Government will see the city’s base operating 24-hours a day by 2015, in addition to an increase in doctor and paramedic numbers.
It will also welcome an extra $2-million investment for helicopter retrieval services.

“From retrieval network point of view it massive, you know. It’s history-making, the amount of money. So, there’s more doctors and more paramedics will be trained.”

However, discussions are continuing as to whether winching operations from the north west base should be scrapped, following a recommendation to the government.

Newcastle also celebrated a boost in their rescue helicopter service
