The former head of the Maitland-Newcastle Catholic Diocese has revealed he didn’t follow a church rule to destroy secret documents on priests involved in criminal cases after a decade – or their deaths.
Bishop Michael Malone today told the Special Commission of Inquiry he didn’t follow the requirement of canon law – but added, perhaps he should have.
